This is a log of all the new cats I meet over the years, with a brief review about the cat as well as photos, when I have them. I got the idea when I was walking along this road and met a whopping four new cats, after almost a month of walking along this road every day.
Cow cat from Adyar

I had gone to get my hair done at this curly hair salon in Adyar after nearly a year of putting it off and when I went to have tea at this shop, this girl showed up. She was friendly as hell. She loved scratches on the back of her head and would close her eyes and look up at me. When I stopped giving her scratches, she would rub her face on my pants repeatedly.
Zorro and Scooter

These two boys are very shy and in the few months I’ve been here, Zorro (the tuxedo/cow) and Scooter have just let me boop them a couple of times. Both of them love treats too and they do come close to me when I’ve got some but soon after, they run away and act as if they’ve never seen me before. Scooter does occasionally come and rub against my leg when the neighbour that feeds them is around. I guess both of them like to socialise on their own terms. They both get bullied by Walnut.
Walnut the tortoiseshell bully

Walnut has become my best friend here. She’s a neighbour’s cat in the sense that he just feeds her and the others around. She’s even started following me around after I started giving her treats. She loves treats and is very friendly except with other cats. Whenever I try to feed some of the others, she slaps and chases them away. She apparently gives high-fives too but only when this other neighbour asks her for them. She hasn’t given me any yet :(
Batman

Batman is one of the shyest girls around. She often glares at me from a distance and just generally keeps a safe distance. Unless I feed her because then she’s all meowing and friendly but still atleast a metre away from me.
Eyebrow girl #1

This one hisses! She was so scared of me walking around that she would slink away quietly. She’s both Zorro’s and Batman’s mother. She’s never showed up while I’ve given the others treats and she just stays away.
Eyebrow girl #2

Not to be confused with the other eyebrow girl, I really got to know this somewhat shy girl when I started feeding her and the other treats. She detests getting touched but she doesn’t mind coming close if there’s food. She comes from a long line of eyebrow cats. She keeps getting bullied by Walnut.
The majestic Noor

Noor is by far the prettiest cat I’ve seen around here. I showed my partner a blurry photo of her perched on the roof of my next-door neighbour’s verandah and she asked “Who is that God?” Noor is incredibly shy and she usually runs away if I approach her even from a few metres away but when I’m giving out treats, she comes so close I could almost touch her if I reached out. She also meows adorably when I’m giving out treats and I hope to adopt her too, if the neighbour allows it.
The royal black floof

I fell in love the moment I saw this regal green eyed girl sitting outside a fence and looking around. She, of course, moved off inside the moment I approached her and then was meowing and rubbing herself against stuff inside. A cobbler sitting nearby told me that she was someone’s pet and that they had abandoned her when they moved. He also said that she apparently eats only the finest meat and nothing else. I hope to see her again since at the time of writing this, I haven’t seen her again yet.
The elusive Elumbu

I saw this baby soon after I saw the royal floof and initially confused them for her but it was the same cobbler who called this one elumbu, Tamil for bones, which makes sense considering they’re very skinny and very wary of me. They ignored me initially when I tried calling out and then maintained good distance from me.
The calico yeller and the quiet one

I met this very friendly calico kitten while walking by and saw that she was very friendly but in a quirky way. She first meowed loudly in a hilarious fashion and then submitted to pets and started rubbing her face on my leg. She has this slightly odd way of accepting pets — and it’s not that she doesn’t like them — but she bends down and gets her body close to the ground as if resisting pets and then closes her eyes. I saw the shy and quiet tabby kitten soon after and he looked absolutely adorable with his big eyes and chubby face. I’m assuming he’s a boy here but I could well be wrong. He kept his distance but i would’ve loved to pick him up and squish him close.
